Words about Charley Brentnall

We were incredibly saddened to hear of the recent death of all-round, timber-technology superstar Charley Brentnall.

A previous employer of Henry’s, Charley also previously worked with Henry’s late Father, a structural engineer, on numerous projects including the fabulous Olivier Theatre at Bedales school (pictured) and more recently was involved in the Greenheart project at Hooke Park where he tutored the resident architecture students.

He was a warm and infectious character, whose pioneering influence on our industry is well known. Henry remembers, “Had he not had such a personal impact on my father, I would never have been exposed with such enthusiasm to the world of green oak carpentry, which led me to where I am today.” So, thank you, Charley. Rest in peace.
